These images are stereotypical of the teen angst genre, as the films are usually based around teenage girls who have a love interest and are faced with a situation or problem that they eventually overcome. The films try to portray the stereotypical life's of teenagers of that time. Billy Elliot and Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a counter type of the teen angst genre as far as the main character is a male.
